Meditation Verse: Psalm 23 “He restores my soul”

I love Psalm 23, several of our Renew spaces are named after it and in particular verse 3, our meditation phrase for this week.  Enjoy this beautiful version, let the words wash over you:

One definition of restore is this “repair or renovate (a building, work of art, etc.) so as to return it to its original condition. “the building has been lovingly restored”

I believe that I have been lovingly restored at several points in my life-journey, it has taken me nearly fifty years to achieve this so far and I am a work-in-progress most days! 

I love watching programmes that take an old, once lost piece of art which is restored to it’s original wonderful appearance by the end of the programme, interestingly dirt is not usually the problem but areas of the painting that have been over-painted by a previous restorer to “improve” the original artwork.  The real beauty is in the original painting, God loves us for who we are, not who we think we should be.
