Meditation Verse: Psalm 19 “The heavens declare the glory of the Lord.”
I am loving the recent improvement in the weather, we’ve even had some sunshine in East Lancashire this week and today I had my first morning prayer in the garden. After so much rain in the preceding months I find myself looking up to check for clouds and in doing this I have noticed garden birds building nests and felt the warm sun on my face. These signs of spring are the best medicine for the soul and certainly improve my own well-being.
A strip of Blue (Excerpt) Lucy Larcom (1824-1893)
I do not own an inch of land,
But all I see is mine, –
The orchard and the mowing fields,
The lawns and gardens fine.
The winds my tax-collectors are,
They bring me tithes divine, –
Wild scents and subtle essences,
A tribute rare and free;
And, more magnificent than all,
My window keeps for me
A glimpse of blue immensity, –
A little strip of sea.
This week, try to spend a little time outside, look up at the sky and then look down at the nature next to where you are standing and wonder at God’s creation.
