Meditation Verse: Psalm 18 “The Lord is my rock.”

In this week’s Psalm, David is thankful for deliverance from his enemies and that God has been his rock through what must have been very frightening times.  Psalm 46 says:

1 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present[a] help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.”

I find this reassuring when looking at our war-torn world as well as in the quiet moments of worry in the night.  Several years ago I had to have brain surgery to remove a benign tumour, despite months of worry in the build up to the operation, I prayed to God for calm and on the morning of the operation as I walked into the theatre I felt completely calm which I’m sure made it much easier on the medical staff.  Although long; the operation was a success, having God as my rock made the whole experience so much easier to deal with.

Whatever is troubling you today, lean on our rock and He will help ease the burden.
