Weekly Meditation Verse: Psalm 131 “I have calmed and quieted my soul.”
Last week we were in the Falmouth area of Cornwall on holiday, it is one of our most favourite places to be and after the very long journey, I began to feel myself relax after a couple of days. I’ve just been looking back at our photos and remembering our day spent wandering (we lost the map!) around the Lost gardens of Heligan. As it was the week before the schools break up for summer, the garden was not too busy and we spent many happy hours looking at the plants, I loved the walled kitchen gardens with green houses whereas Mark was keen to explore the jungle area and walk the rope bridge – something for everyone! At one point as we climbed back up the steep hill towards a much-anticipated cream tea, we stopped to sit on a bench and with the exception of a few happy dogs, we were alone. I looked out and could see the sea in the distance, there was a gentle breeze, some birdsong – and we calmed and quieted ourselves for a few moments. I’m going to try and recall that memory as I meditate on this week’s Psalm.
