Meditation Verse: Psalm 3 “My glory and the lifter of my head.”
David writes this Psalm as he is being pursued by enemies, so I guess he needs to keep his head down to avoid capture. He calls the Lord his shield, in this protection he can lift his head even in frightening and difficult times. The world can be a pretty scary place at the moment but with God our shield we can still lift our heads with confidence and look up and out at the wonder of creation. In these gloomy winter weeks, take a walk and look for shoots and buds of the coming spring, I promise you, even in chilly Rossendale they are there. When my Dad was seriously ill, he re-discovered this verse from Jeremiah 29:
“11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”
Stand outside for a while today and look up. Take time just to gaze.
God lifts our heads to see things from His perspective sometimes.
After looking at the vastness of the sky, look at a tiny object.
God is also in the small details.
