Meditation Verse: Psalm 1 “…like a tree planted by streams of water.”

After the business of December which I enjoy, January always arrives with a welcome fresh start for the new year.  It’s almost as if we’ve been holding our breath and can finally breathe out and relax.  This week’s psalm with the image of a tree next to a stream drinking the water up into its roots and finding refreshment works well with my early January feeling.  We cannot survive without water and constant refreshment, in Isaiah 44:3 it says:

“For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
    and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,
    and my blessing on your descendants.”

In this new year I pray that you may be refreshed and blessed.
