Weekly Meditation Verse: Psalm 133 “How good and how pleasant it is when we dwell in unity.”

So, I hurt my foot last week, in fact I thought it might be broken, Thursday afternoon was a trip to Urgent Care where an x-ray confirmed that it was a bad strain, thankfully.  The only advice was to keep off it and rest up! But I had so much to do, this was really annoying, however, Mark was insistent, I was to spend the weekend resting.  Normally, we are a pretty good partnership and between us keep the house running, suddenly he was on his own and looking a bit stressed to be honest.  I felt terrible and as the weekend wore on there were fewer good and pleasant feelings going around.  After a fairly chaotic but necessary trip to the supermarket using a wheelchair with the trolley attachment on the front, Mark was frustrated, and I felt like a complete burden to everyone around as we negotiated the busy aisles.  On Sunday evening as he sat down to eat with me, we agreed that life is easier when we work together or in unity.  And, by Sunday evening my foot began to feel just a little bit better!

During August the Renew Team will be resting, planning, praying and deepening wellbeing ourselves.  Perhaps during this summer period, those of you who pause your Renew spaces could meet as a host team to pray and plan before starting again in September?  Whatever you do, make sure you attend to your own wellbeing so that you are refreshed and ready to share with others after the summer.  Here’s what Jesus said to His disciples in Mark 6:

30 The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. 31 Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.”

Bless you this summer rest period.
