Weekly Meditation Verse: Psalm 120 “In my distress, I call on the Lord (and He answered me).”

Over the years I have had to endure various medical procedures, some of which have really hurt!  (I have a reputation in the family for being a bad patient).  This week I visited the dentist once again as we sort out the problems caused by a lack of appointments over the past 3 years; I knew I was having a tooth extracted and I wasn’t looking forward to it!  On the 20-minute drive to the dentist I most certainly was distressed and did indeed call out to the Lord.  The tooth popped out easily, no drama and I left the practice half an hour later, slightly wobbly but with a spring in my step.

As I watch refugees pour out of another war-torn country this week, it puts my petty distress into context; surely, we should cry out to the Lord on behalf of anyone we see in real distress, knowing He is our refuge and strength?

Psalm 9:9-10

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.”
