Weekly Meditation Verse: Psalm 119 “Your word is a light to my path.”

This week’s verse leads me to John 8 v 12:

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

I think we have probably all been situations where all around us is a feeling of darkness, we often talk about looking for the light at the end of the tunnel and the relief of glimpsing that first light, whether it be in an actual tunnel or at the end of a period of illness.

I am not a good flyer but as I have friends and family in America, I occasionally must fly across the Atlantic.  The way there in daylight is ok partly because there is the anticipation of meeting loved ones and the thought of a few days holiday but I absolutely dread the night flight back when I don’t get a wink of sleep and feel every bump in the air; as the plane nears home and the sun rises, I feel myself relax as the flight is nearly over and my feet will be back on solid ground.

The sense of this week’s verse is that God lights our path constantly, so we don’t need to fear the bumps and darkness, what a gift!
