{"id":984,"date":"2024-10-16T06:42:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T06:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rwnorthblog.org.uk\/?p=984"},"modified":"2024-10-14T12:42:28","modified_gmt":"2024-10-14T12:42:28","slug":"16th-october-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rwnorthblog.org.uk\/?p=984","title":{"rendered":"16th October 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Meditation Verse: Psalm 42 \u201cMy soul thirsts for God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a child in church, I always thought the song taken from this psalm seemed a bit odd \u2013 \u201cwhy are we singing about out of breath deers?\u201d&nbsp; But this is the Psalmist\u2019s way of expressing how thirsty he is to spend time with God.&nbsp; Thirsty as if having just been running and needing to quench the thirst by glugging down a drink of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAs the deer pants for the water, So my soul longs after You.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You alone are my heart&#8217;s desire And I long to worship You.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You alone are my strength, my shield,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>To You alone may my spirit yield.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You alone are my heart&#8217;s desire And I long to worship You.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of the verse and chorus then answer this longing.&nbsp; It reminds me a bit of our Renew morning prayer, <em>\u201cBless the Lord oh my soul!
